Ethical Brand Photography for a Remodeling Company That’s “Not Your Average Home Improvement Guys”
A Remodeling Story That Hits Close to Home
I first met David and Chris Caputo, owners of G&L and Sons Renovations in Caldwell, NJ, at the height of the Covid pandemic in 2020.
With the world slowing down and public spaces closing, my family decided to add a patio to our backyard. In the process, we accidentally caused a leak in our living room. This room is a truly unique space that once served as a workshop and even housed an airplane (yes, really). While we had always planned to update the space in our midcentury home, the leak forced our timeline.
That’s when G&L and Sons Renovations stepped in.
David, Chris, and their crew transformed that space into the most elegant, custom, and timeless living area I could have imagined. As a homeowner in Northern NJ, trusting a remodeling company to work inside your home for weeks (or months) is deeply personal. My experience as their client would later shape how I photographed their brand.
From Remodeling Client to Interior Photographer
In 2023, after completing our third project together, David approached me with a unique opportunity. Alongside designer Maureen Madigan, his team had just finished our ensuite bathroom and primary closet renovation. They no longer had a photographer and I was ready to step into interior photography professionally.
That moment officially launched my interior photography journey.
Since then, our relationship has evolved into a true creative partnership. Sometimes I’m the client. Sometimes I’m behind the camera. That mutual trust makes all the difference.
Why Remodeling Companies Need Brand Photography in 2026
Marketing has changed dramatically even in the last few years. For remodeling companies in Caldwell, NJ and beyond, beautiful project photos are no longer enough.
Clients want to know:
- Who will be in their home?
- Who will manage their project?
- Who can they trust for months at a time?
When I began offering Brand Storytelling Sessions, I knew the G&L team needed to be in front of my camera.
David initially felt hesitant. It seemed self-indulgent to put his face, and his team’s faces, on social media. But here’s the mindset shift:
Your face IS your brand.
People connect with people. It’s impossible to build trust with even the most beautiful logo alone.
For a remodeling company working inside private homes throughout Northern NJ, visibility builds safety. When potential clients see the team, observe how they work, and feel their professionalism through imagery, they begin building trust before the first consultation ever happens.
Positioning G&L and Sons as “Not Your Average Home Improvement Guys”
David signed on for my Brand Momentum session. We collaborated intentionally:
- Strategic planning call
- Shot list creation
- Wardrobe consultation
- Prop selection
- Timeline mapping for shoot day
Every detail was designed to reflect the elevated, professional, and thoughtful experience G&L provides their remodeling clients.
The goal wasn’t performative content. It was clarity.
The final gallery now shows:
- The faces behind the business
- The professionalism clients can expect
- The calm, capable energy of the team
- The experience of working with a trusted remodeling company in Caldwell, NJ
These images help future clients feel connected before the first phone call.
