Long Beach Island, NJ Celebration of Life Pet Photography: Jenn and Lola

Allow me to introduce you to Jenn and Lola, but the story doesn’t start here…

Jenn and I met at orientation as incoming freshmen to Virginia Tech and instantly clicked: her Jersey edge, her quiet strength, and that spark she brings to any room. She claims she’s introverted (same), but when we find our people, we come alive.

Jenn was my Emotional Support Extrovert, my roommate, my college ride-or-die. We spent nights watching Animal Cops and dreaming about saving every stray in Indiana. Now? She’s actually doing it right here in New Jersey.

Since the pandemic, she fostered 57(!) cats and kittens, and her home on the Jersey Shore is full of love (and probably fur).

Only a few years after being adopted, Jenn told me her sweet pup, Lola Mae, had developed a brain tumor. As a New Jersey pet photographer specializing in emotional, story-driven sessions, I knew I needed to photograph them. We immediately scheduled a sunset session near their home. I photographed them on Long Beach Island near the Barnegat Lighthouse.

The evening was filled with love, friendship, connecting, and spending time together.

For a minute we thought we were in trouble when a park ranger came over to see what we were up to. As soon as we mentioned it was a session for a terminally ill pup, she chatted with us for a bit, gave Lola some treats, and went on her way.

Lola was friendly, goofy and food-motivated and a sweet sister to her chocolate lab brother, Benson.. She was also deeply loved and cared for by one of my best friends.
