Remodeled Home Interior Session in Mendham, NJ

There is something special about walking into a home that instantly feels both grounded and deeply personal, and this Mendham, NJ project with Riverlands Design was exactly that.

I had the opportunity to photograph this newly remodeled home. What stood out most wasn’t just how beautiful it was, but how intentionally it was designed to be lived in.

Every space felt like an invitation.

Open, welcoming areas bring people together, while quieter corners create space for privacy and retreat. That balance between connection and solitude doesn’t always come easily. In this home, it works effortlessly.

One of my favorite spaces in the home was a sunroom that had been thoughtfully transformed into a library, tucked just off the main family room. It is the kind of space that draws you in without asking. Soft light, layered textures, and a sense of calm that makes you want to stay a while. It creates a natural pause within the home, in the best way.

What made this project even more meaningful is the level of care behind every decision. Each fixture, knob, pull, tile, and textile was hand-selected by the family in collaboration with the designers at Riverlands Design. You can feel that throughout the home. It’s not just cohesive, it’s personal.

Nothing feels overdone or performative. Instead, the home flows naturally from one space to the next, telling a consistent story while still allowing each room to have its own personality.

As an interior photographer, these are the spaces I’m most drawn to: the ones that don’t just look good, but feel like something. Spaces that reflect the people who live there. Spaces that feel like home.
