Interior and Exterior Photoshoot Preparation Checklist
The purpose of any architectural photoshoot is to showcase your space to reflect both the craftsmanship of the work along with your unique style. Below is a checklist for both interior and exterior spaces that allow the beauty of the space to shine through in the final photos. Please read through whichever area applies to your shoot for instructions on how to best ready your space.
Interiors
Declutter countertops of any small appliances: toasters, coffee makers, blenders, etc. They should be placed out of view in a closet or cabinet.
Unplug and store unnecessary chargers and other items.
Remove exposed garbage or recycle bins from the kitchen.
Clear views of the deck and patio through sliding doors if applicable.
Store bathroom toiletries, scales and garbage cans in drawers or closets.
Clear out bottles and soaps from inside the shower.
Put away children’s toys.
All lights should be in working order at the time of the shoot.
Any furniture or large items not intended to be in the photos should be moved prior to the beginning of the shoot.
Natural light is best! Windows should be closed, cleaned and blinds up.
Clear desks and drop zones of paperwork and miscellaneous items.
Store shoes, coats and accessories out of view. If we are photographing a closet, mud room or drop zone, it is much easier to add back a few items than have to clear everything out at the beginning of the shoot.
We absolutely love pets, but please place them in a room that will not be photographed.
We want to highlight your unique style! If there is something in the room you want to showcase, please let us know. However, we may choose to remove blankets, throw pillows and hand towels with busy patterns at the time of your photoshoot.
Exteriors
Please arrange to have your lawn care completed before the shoot. A well manicured lawn is like a fresh haircut!
Remove garbage or recycle bins from view.
Please move your vehicle(s) inside a garage or on to the street out of view. This keeps your property looking nicer for the photo session and helps protects your identity when the final photos are posted online.
Clear views into your home from the deck and patio through exterior doors.
Put away children’s toys.
For dusk sessions, all exterior lights should be in working order and on at the time of the photoshoot.
Any furniture or large items not intended to be in the photos (grills, tables, chairs, portable fire pits, etc.) should be moved prior to the beginning of the shoot.
Windows should be closed, cleaned and blinds up for a uniform look.
Hide hoses, electrical cords and wires wherever possible.
Store tools and accessories out of view.
We love pets, but please place them somewhere indoors that will not be photographed.
We want to highlight your unique style! However, we may choose to remove objects that are visually distracting at the time of your photoshoot in order to best showcase the area.
