Pantone recently announced 2014’s Color of the Year to be Radiant Orchid. I attended a webinar today on next year’s selection to get a little insight on the color selection process and am excited to share the results.
According to Pantone, the Color of the Year selection is chosen when a color demonstrates that it crosses all areas of design, and can often be found all around the world. Radiant Orchid, a complex purple, magenta and fuschia hue, does just that and also evokes unity, balance and harmony. Purples are often described as magical, captivating, and evoking a sense of wonder. These hues are also very modern in today’s society, lending them to be used commonly in trendy companies, often in the tech and creative industries.
