How Being Photographed Made Me a Better Brand Photographer

If you’ve ever felt a little anxious about booking a brand photography session, I get it.

Not just because I’ve worked with tons of clients who have told me that same thing — but because I have been the client too.

I’ve done the shoot. I’ve stood in front of the camera, wondering what to do with my hands. I’ve second-guessed the outfit choices and over thought the poses. (My bestie has specific instructions to destroy all of the outfit choice photos I sent leading up to my session.)

And I’ve come out the other side saying: That was so worth it.

There’s a reason I show up to my sessions with empathy, clarity, and strategy — and it’s because I know exactly what it feels like to be where you are.

Let’s talk about it.

I’ve Been in Front of the Camera Too — Here’s Why Brand Photography Matters

When I say I’ll never ask you to do something I wouldn’t do myself, I mean it.

I too have had the full brand shoot experience. Not just snapping a few selfies or letting a friend grab a couple of headshots — I mean hiring a professional, planning the wardrobe, scouting locations, and standing in front of someone else’s camera while trying to look natural.

So when you say,
“What if I feel awkward?”
“What if I don’t know how to pose?”
“What if I hate the photos?”

…I’ve been there., and I’ve got you! Which is exactly why I don’t expect you to just “figure it out.” I walk you through every step — from how we prep to how we pose — with the same level of care I needed when I was the one being photographed.

I Believe in Brand Photography Because I’ve Seen the Results Firsthand

Brand photography isn’t just something I offer — it’s something I use every single day.

I have invested in brand photos for myself because I know the power of showing up online with intention.

Those images helped me:

  • Clarify how I present myself and my business
  • Show up more confidently on my website, social media, and client guides
  • Feel like the face of my brand, not just the person behind the scenes

It’s easy to tell yourself you’ll wait until your next launch, your next website update, or your next confidence boost — but the transformation starts in the session.

When you see yourself showing up with clarity and confidence, you start making decisions like the boss you already are.

Being Seen Is Part of Building a Brand That Connects

This work is personal. Yes, it’s strategic — but it’s also emotional.

Getting in front of the camera can feel vulnerable. But it can also feel empowering.

I show up to each session with the energy I would want someone to bring for me: grounded, encouraging, and prepared. Because I know how powerful it is to feel truly seen — not just as a business owner, but as a whole human behind the brand.

And I want that for you, too.

So If You’ve Been on the Fence…

I see you. I was you.

And I’m here to tell you: it doesn’t have to feel overwhelming or performative or cringey.

You don’t need to wait until you feel “ready.”

You just need someone who’s been where you are — and knows how to guide you through.

Let’s make it feel doable. Let’s make it feel like you.
